MALVERN, Pennsylvania, USA and SHANGHAI, China - December 4, 2024 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has announced the introduction of a new 40 V TrenchFET Quad n-channel power MOSFET, the SiJK140E, in the PowerPAK 10x12 package. TrenchFET four-generation n-channel power MOSFET --- SiJK140E, the device has excellent on-resistance, can provide higher efficiency and power density for industrial applications. The Vishay Siliconix SiJK140E offers 32 percent lower on-resistance than competing devices with the same footprint and 58 percent lower on-resistance than a 40 V MOSFET in a TO-263-7L package.

Figure. 1

The recently announced device has a typical on-resistance as low as 0.34 m at 10 V, minimizing power loss due to conduction to improve efficiency, while improving thermal performance with RthJC as low as 0.21 °C/W typical. The SiJK140E allows designers to achieve the same low on-resistance with a single device instead of connecting two in parallel to improve reliability and extend the average on-resistance of the MOSFET. improved reliability and extended Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF).

The MOSFETs are designed using wire bonding (BWL) to minimize parasitic inductance while maximizing current capability. While the TO-263-7L solution in a batter-wire bonding (BW) package is limited to 200 A of current, the SiJK140E delivers up to 795 A of continuous drain current to increase power density while providing robust SOA functionality. The device's 120 mm2 footprint in the PowerPAK 10x12 package saves 27 percent of PCB space and reduces thickness by 50 percent compared to the TO-263-7L.

The SiJK140E is well suited for synchronous rectification, hot-swap and OR-ing functions. Typical applications include motor drive control, power tools, welding equipment, plasma cutters, battery management systems, robotics and 3D printers. To avoid commonality in these products, the standard grade FETs offer a high threshold voltage of 2.4 Vgs. The MOSFETs are RoHS compliant and halogen free, 100 % Rg and UIS tested.

The SiJK140E is now available for sampling and mass production with a 36-week lead time.
