Munich, Germany, January 20, 2025 - As the automotive industry continues to evolve, once high-end features are now standard. As a result, intelligent low-voltage motors will play an increasingly important role in shaping the future automotive user experience. Automakers are looking for semiconductor solutions that are more reliable, energy-efficient and cost-effective, while also operating under harsh conditions. To meet this demand, Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) introduces the MOTIX™ Bridge BTM90xx, a family of full-bridge/H-bridge integrated circuits (ICs) designed specifically for brushed DC motor applications. The new BTM90xx The new BTM90xx full-bridge ICs not only enrich Infineon's product portfolio, but also complement the MOTIX™ low-voltage motor control IC portfolio from driver ICs to highly integrated System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions. The BTM90xx family is intended for, but not limited to, automotive applications such as doors, mirrors, seats, bodywork, area control modules, etc., and is optimized specifically for these applications. In addition, the family can also be used in safety related applications thanks to the safety documentation.

The power of the BTM90xx series enables intelligent and miniature motor control solutions. With a normal operating voltage range of 7 V to 18 V (extended 4.5 V to 40 V), the series offers a wide range of protection and diagnostic functions, such as over-temperature, under-voltage, over-current, cross-current, or short-circuit detection, etc. The BTM90xx series measures the currents of both high-side and low-side switches, making it suitable for automotive applications with current limits of at least 10 A (BTM901x) or 20 A (BTM902x). applications, enabling PWM frequencies up to 20 kHz.The BTM9011EP and BTM9021EP are SPI-ready models that support daisy-chaining functionality for reduced pin counts, helping to reduce overall system cost. The BTM9021 also integrates a watchdog function. The BTM90xx is available in a miniature TSDSO-14 (4.9 x 6.0 mm) package, which The BTM90xx is packaged in a miniature TSDSO-14 (4.9 x 6.0 mm) package, which reduces the total PCB board space required, and its large exposed pads improve the device's thermal performance.
To simplify the evaluation and design introduction of the MOTIX™ BTM90xx, Infineon also offers a complete support package including product technical documentation, simulation models, power dissipation calculation tools, evaluation boards and Arduino sample code. In addition, the MOTIX BTM90xx device driver software and the MOTIX™ full-bridge IC configuration wizard are available free of charge at the Infineon Developer Center (IDC).

How to Measure Circuit Current Using Shunt Resistors: Principles, Steps and Practical Guide
In electronic circuit testing and troubleshooting, current measurement is a fundamental and critical operation. Whilst multimeters can directly measure current, shunt resistors prove a more reliable choice when dealing with high currents (e.g. exceeding 10A) or demanding high-precision measurements, owing to their low cost and high stability. This article systematically explains shunt resistor selection, connection methods, practical measurement steps, error control, and safety precautions, starting from th....
