The new gate driver integrated circuit integrates bootstrap diodes and resistors, helping to simplify high-speed designs for brushless motors, power tools, and DC-DC converters
Rosemont, Illinois, June 3, 2025—Littelfuse, Inc. is a diversified industrial technology manufacturer dedicated to powering a sustainable, connected, and safer world. The company today announced the launch of the IXD0579M high-speed gate driver integrated circuit. The IXD0579M simplifies circuit board design, saves space, and provides a reliable multi-source alternative for driving N-channel MOSFETs or IGBTs in half-bridge configurations.

Figure 1

The IXD0579M is designed to operate within a wide power supply range of 6.5 V to 18 V. It integrates a bootstrap diode and a series current-limiting resistor within a single compact 3×3 mm² TDFN-10 package, components that typically require discrete installation. This innovative integrated design reduces the number of components and costs in the bill of materials while simplifying PCB layout.

Key Product Features and Benefits
High drive capability: 1.5 A sink current and 2.5 A source current output drive current;
Wide supply voltage range: Operates within a 6.5 V to 18 V range with UVLO protection;
Integrated bootstrap circuit: On-chip bootstrap diode and resistor simplify design;
Logic level compatibility: Directly interfaces with TTL and CMOS levels (as low as 3.3 V);
Cross-conduction protection: Prevents simultaneous conduction on both high-side and low-side;
Ultra-low standby current: Power consumption less than 1 μA in standby mode, enabling efficient energy savings;
Thermal robustness: Operating temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.
“The IXD0579M developed by Littelfuse can directly replace commonly used industry-standard gate driver integrated circuits,” said June Zhang, Product Manager of Littelfuse's Integrated Circuit Division. ”This provides customers with greater flexibility in ensuring supply while simplifying their circuit design through an integrated solution.”
The IXD0579M is Littelfuse's first gate driver to integrate both a bootstrap diode and a current-limiting resistor, further expanding the company's growing portfolio of power control solutions. As the eleventh high-side/low-side driver device released by Littelfuse, this product reinforces the company's leading position in serving the “multi-source” market that requires high performance and supply chain continuity.

Target Markets and Applications
The IXD0579M is designed for high-frequency switching and is ideal for:
Brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives;
Battery-powered handheld tools;
DC-DC converters and power supplies;
General industrial and electrical equipment;
Its compact form factor and robust performance make it ideal for space-constrained designs and high-efficiency power stage applications.

How to Measure Circuit Current Using Shunt Resistors: Principles, Steps and Practical Guide
In electronic circuit testing and troubleshooting, current measurement is a fundamental and critical operation. Whilst multimeters can directly measure current, shunt resistors prove a more reliable choice when dealing with high currents (e.g. exceeding 10A) or demanding high-precision measurements, owing to their low cost and high stability. This article systematically explains shunt resistor selection, connection methods, practical measurement steps, error control, and safety precautions, starting from th....
