Luca Rodeschini, Group Vice President and General Manager of STMicroelectronics' General Purpose and Automotive MCU Division, stated: " Our long-term commitment to the SPC58 family empowers system designers at automotive customers worldwide to confidently initiate new projects while leveraging their existing investments in device validation, software, and tools. These MCUs support flexible platform-based designs and future-proof scalability, offering a rich portfolio of device variants to meet evolving automotive electrical architecture requirements."
The complete portfolio includes five general-purpose families primarily targeting smart gateways and body control applications such as lighting and door locking, equipped with communication, analog, and security peripherals. The high-performance SPC58 E and SPC58 N families have also been introduced for powertrain electrification and chassis safety applications, offering multiple timers and specialized features like FlexPWM to address complex motor control challenges.
Customers can now extend the lifecycle of successful products and continue relying on SPC58 automotive microcontrollers for new designs. STMicroelectronics' in-house manufacturing model ensures comprehensive control over device design, support, and production, guaranteeing product quality and supply stability.
The SPC58 series encompasses seven product lines with the following characteristics:
MCUs built on ST's 40nm embedded flash process, featuring up to three e200z4 32-bit Power Architecture® cores and on-chip non-volatile memory ranging from 1MB to 10MB.
Extensive support for mainstream communication protocols, including multiple ISO CAN-FD compliant Modular Controller Area Network (MCAN) modules supporting multipoint connections.
Equipped with an IEEE 802.3 10/100 Ethernet controller supporting IEEE 802.1Q VLANs for traffic management and segmentation.
Hardware Security Module (HSM) with dedicated core and memory isolates security-sensitive processing and data, enabling EVITA®-compliant system development. Hardware-based mechanisms support functional safety certification up to ISO 26262 ASIL-B.
High-performance SPC58 E and SPC58 N series devices target ASIL-D systems, fully meeting the highest functional safety requirements at the system integration level.
The SPC58 series offers over 40 variants, ranging from the economical, compact 10mm x 10mm eTQFP64-packaged SPC58 2B devices to the 19mm x 19mm FPBGA386-packaged SPC58 H MCUs.
