Pickering Unveils World's First 20kV Customizable Reed Relay at SEMICON Taiwan 2025

2025-08-29 17:41:07 1548

August 2025, Clacton-on-Sea, UK — Pickering Electronics, a global leader in high-performance reed relays, will showcase its comprehensive semiconductor test relay portfolio at SEMICON Taiwan 2025, including the newly launched 600 Series customizable high-voltage reed relays. This series achieves up to 20kV withstand voltage between switch contacts and up to 25kV between switch and coil. Visitors can view the product at the UK Pavilion, Booth I3022/J3034, during the exhibition from September 10-12, 2025.

Pickering's 600 Series reed relays represent a significant innovation in high-voltage relay design. The series offers flexible configuration to meet customer requirements, supporting:

- Switch contact withstand voltage up to 20kV, switch-to-coil withstand voltage up to 25kV

- Diverse pinouts and connection options

- Coil resistance selection

- Package specifications and potting material options

This high level of customization enables semiconductor test engineers and system designers to precisely specify required performance, achieving an optimal balance between size, isolation, and switching speed to meet demanding application requirements.

Typical applications include:

Semiconductor wafer probing and package testing — High-voltage withstand, leakage current, stress, and isolation checks

Electric vehicle and battery testing — High-voltage charge/discharge cycling

Solar PV and renewable energy — Panel isolation and breakdown testing

Medical and scientific instruments — Precision high-voltage switching in compact systems

Physics research laboratories — Complex test scenarios demanding high reliability

Robert King, Product Manager at Pickering Electronics, stated:

“SEMICON Taiwan is one of the most important exhibitions for the global semiconductor industry. We are delighted to debut the customizable 600 Series high-voltage relays here for the first time. By achieving industry-first 20kV contact withstand voltage and 25kV coil isolation, combined with flexible custom designs, we empower test engineers to continually push performance boundaries while ensuring compactness, reliability, and efficiency.”

Beyond the 600 Series, Pickering will showcase its full range of high-performance reed relays, including:

High-Density Switching — 4mm x 4mm footprint for semiconductor ATE and mixed-signal testing

RF Reed Relays — Optimized for 50Ω/75Ω systems with low loss and high repeatability

Ultra-low leakage current relays — Suitable for pA-level parameters and capacitance-voltage testing

Long-life relays — Supports 24/7 continuous operation with reliability spanning millions to billions of operations

Concurrently, Pickering Interfaces — the switching division of the Pickering Group — will showcase its modular signal switching and simulation solutions at the booth, offering broader combination support for semiconductor and high-voltage testing.

With over 50 years of reed relay design and manufacturing expertise, Pickering products are widely deployed by leading global semiconductor, test, and instrumentation companies.

How to Measure Circuit Current Using Shunt Resistors: Principles, Steps and Practical Guide
In electronic circuit testing and troubleshooting, current measurement is a fundamental and critical operation. Whilst multimeters can directly measure current, shunt resistors prove a more reliable choice when dealing with high currents (e.g. exceeding 10A) or demanding high-precision measurements, owing to their low cost and high stability. This article systematically explains shunt resistor selection, connection methods, practical measurement steps, error control, and safety precautions, starting from th....
