SHANGHAI, China, November 14, 2024 - ONSEMI and Würth Elektronik announced that Würth Elektronik's passive component database has been integrated into ONSEMI's unique Self-Service PLECS Model Generation (SSPMG) tool. SSPMG is a web-based platform with an intuitive, easy-to-use interface that enables engineers to customize high-accuracy, high-fidelity PLECS models for complex power electronics applications, enabling early identification and remediation of performance bottlenecks in the design process. The integration of Würth Electronics' passive system components further improves the accuracy of switching loss models in SSPMG.

 

Typical PLECS models in the industry rely on laboratory configurations and environments that often do not accurately reflect the reality of various component characteristics, such as conduction, energy loss and thermal impedance, in real-world applications. In contrast, SSPMG's capabilities are based on ON Semiconductor's Physically Scalable SPICE (Simulation Program for Integrated Circuits with a focus on Integrated Circuits) model, which is rooted in the physics of semiconductors and the actual process variations found in component manufacturing, to more accurately represent how a component behaves in a circuit.

 

By using SSPMG, ON's customers are able to autonomously generate system-level PLECS models for their specific power supply applications, while no longer being constrained by long and costly manufacturing cycles, but can virtually develop and optimize complete power systems, thus significantly shortening the time it takes to build a complete power supply system,said James Victory, Ph.D., a researcher in the Modeling and Simulation Solutions group at ON Power Solutions. power systems virtually, thereby significantly reducing time-to-market.

Customers can download the SSPMG loss models for use in their proprietary simulation platforms or upload them to ON's industry-leading Elite Power Simulation Tool (EPS), which directly demonstrates how a circuit topology can be constructed using devices such as ON's EliteSiC family of products, PowerTrench T10 MOSFETs, FS7 IGBTs, and Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs). ) and Intelligent Power Modules (IPMs) to build circuit topologies.
